WESTERN MICHIGAN BRONCOS

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE

COACH: Bill Cubit — At Western Michigan: 47-39, 7 years

OVERALL: 81-57-1, 11 years

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Ryan Cubit

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Rich Nagy

LAST LEAGUE TITLE: 1988

LAST TIME DIDN’T GO BOWLING: 2010

RETURNING STARTERS: 11; 5 offense, 6 defense

PLAYERS TO WATCH: QB Alex Carder, RB Brian Fields, WR Eric Monette, DE Paul Hazel, DT Demetris Anderson, ROV Johnnie Simon, CB Donald Celiscar

PRIMARY STRENGTHS: Carder, who has the tools to play at the next level, has four starters on the offensive line to protect him. Monette has the potential to be a featured receiver, but he has to prove he can step into that bigger role and handle being the attention of opposing defenses.

PRIMARY PROBLEMS: Nagy has to find a way to make the most of what he has on defense after losing two key cogs to graduation. Whether younger players can have a big enough impact to make a new scheme work could be a major question mark.
