TEMPLE OWLS

Danny Wild-US PRESSWIRE

COACH: Steve Addazio — At Temple and overall: 9-4, 1 year

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Ryan Day

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Chuck Heater

LAST LEAGUE TITLE: 1967, Middle Atlantic — University Division

LAST TIME DIDN’T GO BOWLING: 2010

RETURNING STARTERS: 11; 4 offense, 5 defense, kicker, punter

PLAYERS TO WATCH: QB Chris Coyer, RB Matt Brown, OT Martin Wallace, NT Levi Brown, DL John Youboty, SS Justin Gildea, K/P Brandon McManus

PRIMARY STRENGTHS: Coyer fits the college trend as a dual-threat quarterback. Brown — if his 165-pound body holds up — is a dynamic playmaker who is also a dangerous punt and kickoff returner. The defensive line, secondary and kicking game appears as if they will be solid.

POTENTIAL PROBLEMS: There’s the uncertainty over how quickly the offensive line will come together — and how effective it can be. Proven wide receivers are in short supply, too, as well at tight end. The Owls need to develop defensive playmakers, especially at linebacker.
