COACH: Skip Holtz — At USF: 13-12, 2 years
OVERALL: 85-62, 12 years
OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Todd Fitch
DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Chris Cosh
LAST LEAGUE TITLE: None
LAST BOWL: 2010, Meineke Car Care
RETURNING STARTERS: 16; 7 offense, 7 defense, kicker, punter
PLAYERS TO WATCH: QB B.J. Daniels, RB Demitris Murray, WR Victor Marc, WR Sterling Griffin, DE Ryne Giddins, LB DeDe Lattimore, LB Sam Barrington, CB Kayvon Webster
PRIMARY STRENGTHS: No question, the heart of the South Florida defense is at linebacker, where three starters return. The pass rush again looks to be a plus. Even though only one starter returns, Holtz likes the depth at corner. The receiving corps should take a big step up with added depth, and the running backs have more big-play potential.
POTENTIAL PROBLEMS: RB Darrell Scott’s decision to enter the NFL Draft cost the Bulls a tough inside runner. Daniels at quarterback is a threat to run or pass, but he has missed games because of injuries in each of the past two seasons, and his backup wasn’t determined in the spring. DT Cory Grissom could miss much of fall camp after breaking his ankle in the spring.
